History of the temple soon to be in the museum

The Temple of Saint Sava is visible from every angle and direction when approaching Belgrade city center. Once you enter it, it will amaze you with its size and beauty.

The glance will remain at the dome of the Temple, the installation which was the biggest undertaking during the construction. It took more than a month to lift the 4,000-ton load to a height of 40 meters. Three decades have passed from the installation to the painting and decoration of the dome, and thanks to the skilful hands of 70 Serbian and Russian artists, its appearance has been completed.

The tourist offer of the Temple has been completed by introducing the visit of the dome where you can see an imposing 14 meters high figure of Jesus Christ up close. And soon, the visitors will be able to get acquainted with the history of the Temple, its construction, the significance of the Nemanjic lineage and the founders of the Temple Museum.

One of the largest Orthodox churches in the world is an indispensable part of the photos that tourists take back from Belgrade. Domestic and foreign guests return to it regardless of the time of year. Every day, without exception, the temple warmly welcomes everyone who decides to visit this symbol of Belgrade.
