RIBARSKA BANJA’S 190th BIRTHDAY

If you haven’t stopped by Ribarska Banja thus far, September might be a perfect time. Its ongoing Cultural Summer with concerts and interesting festivals marks a special jubilee.

As a healing center opened in the 1830s, Ribarska Banja celebrates its 190th birthday. The place that is traditionally visited due to joint and bone issues, this time also awaits us with its festivals of food and old crafts.

Did you know that Banja was named after the fishermen (Ribari meaning fishermen) who used to catch trout for Prince Lazar? Princess Milica was also believed to have been visiting and using the water in her beauty care.

The first to send the Ribarska Banja’s water sample to be tested in Vienna was Prince Miloš, and King Aleksandar used to come for a vacation.
