NEW YEAR'S EVE IN THE OPEN

As the New Year's Eve celebration is widely organized throughout Serbia at main city squares, it is up to you to choose where to spend this festive night.

Belgrade is well-known for its fireworks, concerts, and streets filled with people dressed as Santa and elves but also a scent of traditional specialties. You might be in the mood for a mulled wine for two in Knez Mihailova Street this December?

If you are more into DJs and modern sounds, Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad is the right choice. Apart from the great atmosphere and joyful crowds, make sure to take a few minutes to enjoy the view of the decorated city.

Kralja Milana Square in Niš is another good option. Here is an opportunity to welcome the future in a surrounding where every brick of the Niš Fortress walls reminds you of an astonishing past.

If your choice is more likely to be a mountain, imagine yourself at the very center of Zlatibor. While the main square by the lake beats in the sound of traditional trumpets, you will have a true idyllic winter at your fingertips. Something similar awaits you in Tara where one can join friends around the large campfire with a glass of 'vruća rakija' (Serbian hot brandy) and slices of pršuta at midnight.
