There is an interesting experience to undertake that combines knowledge and underground research.
Welcome to the speleological tours to discover Serbian treasures beneath the surface. These tours are organized to be suitable for all ages and will take you to visit some of the areas which you may have not known existed.
- If you are spending time around Niš, join one of the groups exploring Cerjanska Cave which is also popularly called Provalija (precipice). It is believed that it was created two millions of years ago and the researched part extends to 7 kilometers in length. It is possible to walk along a thousand-meter path and admire the cave decoration. Find out what helictites are and why they defy the laws of physics.
- Another option is to go to Samar Cave which is often referred to as Milutinov’s. Find out who the famous speleologist was who was listed in the Guinness Book of Records and why the cave is called after him. You will love Samar because of its numerous cascades and limestone tubs.
- You might also find the Popšica Village interesting. Not only is it home to thermal water springs but it houses the cave which was one of the first to be explored in Serbia. Visit the cave and see with your own eyes why it is mostly recognized by bats.
