Bike Fest, which takes place on July 2nd in Kladovo will bring together cyclists and adventurers, and through an interesting program and a ride, they will feature a new tourist product – Iron Gate cycling route.
Iron Gate Cycling Route that connects Kladovo and Drobeta Turnu Severin is 228 km long and consists of six smaller routes, which are intended to familiarize cyclists with cultural and natural heritage of this region. Fifteen points are mapped, seven in Serbia, seven in Romania and one common, each of which represents one of the attractions that create lifetime memories. Iron Gate Cycling Route aims to provide an opportunity for the local population to actively spend their free time, and foreign tourists to motivate to spend more time in this region. At the event, new website will be launched, which will present the route, its trajectory and attractions. Route development is supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia.
The gathering is planned in Kladovo at the roundabout at the entrance to the town (Street 22 September) on July 2 at 09:30 pm and after a short ride in Kladovo, cyclists will ride to Dobreta Turnu Severin and Balotesti camp where they will participate in a number of programs, such as cycling games and music programs, while in Kladovo they will have the opportunity to try out the free kayak rides.
Bike Fest is part of the Blue Week Festival, which is celebrating the International Danube Day, and it is organized by the Danube Competence Centre, Tourism Organization of Kladovo, Cyclomaniacs Association, Cycling Association Đerdap and Association Wild Serbia.
Saturday 2nd July,
09:30-10:00 – Short ride in Kladovo – Two group of cyclists will gather at the Kladovo city entrance an then jointly ride trough red ribbon and symbolically open Bike info point – information center of new Iron Gate cycling route.
10:00 – 12:30 – Departure to Drobeta Turnu Severin – After short break on Kladovo Beach, group will head trough neighboring city of Drobeta Turnu Severin.
12:30 – 13:00 – Drobeta Turnu Severin city ride – In order to promote new touristic product, cyclists will drive trough Drobeta Turnu Severin and then head to Baloteshti camp.
14:00 – 14:30 – Arrival to Baloteshti camp– In Baloteshti camp the T-shirts and promotional badges will be distributed to the participants. Short break and preparation for afternoon part of the program.
14:30 – 20:00 – Afternoon program – Participants can explore surrounding hills or some of the highlights along Iron Gate cycling route.
20:00 – 20:30 – Cycling games – In order to test their skills, in friendly atmosphere cyclists will compete in different cycling games.
20:30 – 22:30 – Relaxing time
22:30 – 00:00 - Evening concert – Evening hours will be reserved for the rock sounds of bend New Deal, while the program will later on continue with electronic sounds of DJ Partizan.
Sunday, 3rd of July,
09:00 – 16:00 – Free Time – Participants can relax in the camp swimming pool or head to one of three routes on Serbian or Romanian side that gathers 15 highlights.
