Travel books and notes written by travellers clearly show the impressions gained from visiting Serbia. The abundance of written texts comprise observations of which we are especially proud, to name a few: Serbia is experienced as an unrevealed tourist gem, our hospitality is something that is always emphasized, big cities are described as exciting and bustling, landscapes of Serbia are breath-stopping, valuable cultural heritage reflects the mysterious East infused with a touch of the West, and the food in Serbia is food which has a soul.
The reflection that we see in the mirror shows us that Serbia has many values which could enchant travellers. That is why the reflection in the eyes of travellers is something that we want to see over and over again. This year’s promotion is called My Serbia for a good reason: we wanted to make the distance disappear and we are confident that vacation in Serbia will provide you with nice and unforgettable moments and, above all, a feeling of strong connection.
If you are interested in spending winter holidays in Serbia, the following renowned ski centres are highly recommended: Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Stara Planina and Mokra Gora - Tara. Spending your vacation in a city in Serbia is not related to which season it is: the capital of Serbia, Belgrade is a city that is always interesting, and we would highly recommend you to spend the New Year’s Eve in Belgrade and experience the magic of the Christmas Eve in the Temple of Saint Sava. Belgrade Beer fest is a event that cannot be missed in the summer, as well as the renowned Belgrade Marathon which is held in spring. Besides visiting Belgrade, we recommend you to visit Novi Sad during the EXIT festival and Sterja’s Theatre Festival, Niš during the Nishville Jazz festival, and Kragujevac during the October festivities. If you want to get your energy refilled, we recommend refreshment and wellness vacation in one of the six well-known spas which we have chosen for you: Vrnjačka Spa, Bukovička Spa, Prolom Spa, Ribarska Spa, Sokobanja and Vrdnik Spa.
National Parks Fruška Gora, Tara, Kopaonik, Đerdap and Šar-mountain are ideal for an active vacation in splendid nature. Travel inspired with natural rarities will take you to the meander of river Uvac, Radan Mountain, Đavolja varoš (Devil’s town) and Pešter plateau. Medieval cultural heritage of Serbia can be experienced by visiting Studenica, Žiča, Mileševa, Sopoćani and other monasteries of so called “Morava School”. The entire heritage can be seen on the UNESCO list, especially monasteries located in Kosovo and Metohija.
Selected milestones shall also point you towards famous archaeological sites: Lepenski Vir, Gamzigrad, Viminacium, Sirmium and Caričin grad (Empress’ town). We have also picked some smaller cities that you should visit - Subotica and Novi Pazar - which present a legacy of valuable heritage of national minorities. The powerful Iron Gate, Danube fortresses, Ovčar-Kablar gorge and Holy Mountain of Fruška Gora, a magical river Drina, “Šargan eight” steam train railroad, Bor Lake, natural caves with outstanding jewellery decorations, famous Guča brass bends-trumpet festival are some of the colourful places and events which testify the range of tourist attractions in Serbia.
For gourmet cognisors, we strongly recommend the variety and richness of Serbian cuisine where food is prepared “with soul” and where wines and brandies are to be tasted at the spot to gain the authenticity of the country. Wineries of Župa, Smederevo, Šumadija, Negotin, Knjaževac, Fruška Gora, Vršac, Palić and Metohija, as an addition to healthy and delicious food, cake and corn bread, prosciutto and sausages, cream and cheese, spicy barbecue and a variety of roasted meat, fruit and fruit brandies, cakes and sweets in countless variations could be enjoyed during the stay at farms and taverns in Vojvodina, rural households, lodges and folk-complexes throughout Serbia
Welcome to Serbia! We shall be waiting for you with a smile of hospitality!
