The 12th Belgrade Beer Fest will be held this week from 13–17 August. In addition to a large selection of local and foreign beer brands at affordable prices, the festival features excellent live music performances each evening.
This year, the festival will be opened by Cee-Lo Green, a hip-hop star and five-time Grammy winner. The opening day will feature regional bands, as well as American DJ and record producer Felix Da Housecat. The ticket for the opening day costs a symbolic price of only 300 dinars (about 2.5 euros), while entrance for the next four days is free.
Also performing at the Belgrade Beer Fest will be regional groups, such as Bajaga & Instruktori, Van Gogh, and YU Grupa, and the UK's dance music DJ Darren Emerson.
Belgrade Beer Fest is the the biggest event of its kind in south-eastern Europe, hosting over 700,000 people in four days. Over the last 11 years, the festival has become one of the hallmarks of Belgrade and has been very significant as a place to promote companionship and tolerance, City Manager Goran Vesic said at the closing press conference last week.
“As the biggest event in the city, aside from the Belgrade marathon, Beer Fest has really become a symbol of Belgrade. It has serious potential and we will keep making it better to attract even more foreign tourists,” Vesic stated.
The biggest event in Serbia is very popular with visitors from regional countries, such as Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Slovenia, as well with guests from elsewhere in Europe and the world. The city brings in approximately 7 million euros every year just from foreign tourists.
