Accessible destinations for all

3 MIN

Tourism in Serbia is becoming more and more inclusive, with the aim of allowing people with disabilities (PWDs) to enjoy travelling and discovering cultural, natural and historical treasures. Many destinations across the country adapt their infrastructure to ensure easier access and a more comfortable stay for all visitors.

Accessibility of cities

Belgrade, the Serbian capital, is becoming more and more open to tourists with disabilities. Numerous landmarks, such as the Belgrade Fortress, Knez Mihailova Street and Skadarlija, have introduced ramps and flat paths for easier access. Also, the Sava Promenade and the modern Belgrade Waterfront are accessible for walks by the river, offering a beautiful view and plenty of restaurants and cafés adapted for people with disabilities.

Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia, offers numerous cultural and historical attractions. The Petrovaradin fortress overlooking the Danube offers adapted paths and places to enjoy the view. Many cultural institutions, such as the Museum of Vojvodina and the Serbian National Theatre, are also accessible to people with disabilities, making Novi Sad an ideal destination for culture and art lovers.

Accessible natural destinations

Nature lovers can enjoy Serbian national parks, which are gradually becoming more accessible for people with disabilities. Fruška gora is home to a large number of monasteries and natural beauties and has several adapted trails, while the Tara and Kopaonik national parks offer adapted trails for hiking, excursions and spending time in the fresh air. These parks offer accommodation adapted to people with disabilities so they can enjoy a pleasant stay in nature.

Serbia is famous for its spas, and many of its spa resorts are adapted for people with disabilities. One of the most famous spas, Vrnjačka Banja, offers ramps and adapted entrances to its pools and wellness centres. Sokobanja and Banja Koviljača also offer accessible solutions for rehabilitation, rest and recovery. What is more, their medical care and therapeutic programmes are available to everyone.

Spas and wellness for all

Serbia as a destination for inclusive tourism

Serbia is increasingly seen as a destination with opportunities for inclusive tourism. Whether you like culture, nature, recreation or relaxing in spas, more and more places in the country are becoming accessible for people with disabilities. Tourism for all is becoming a reality, thus promoting equality and equal access to tourist attractions and their amenities.
