A station where no ticket has ever been sold
Even today, the famous “Ćira” steam locomotive rides through the Mokra Gora area, pulling old wagons through the 22 tunnels of Šargan Hill and over five bridges.
This makes it unique in Europe. It is a narrow-gauge railway that no one has used for a long time. It was used here from 1925 to 1974 to connect Belgrade and the Adriatic Sea.
Do you know that, according to tradition, Mitar Tarabić from the famous Kreman family prophesied that people would not take the train “for work and needs, but for fun”? The railway was reopened in 2003 for the sake of tourism.
Take a journey through time as the smell of locomotive smoke wafts through the window, with a small stove in the carriage warming the passengers. It’s like walking into a black-and-white movie!

If you want to experience this train journey of our grandfathers and grandmothers, sit on a wooden bench and marvel at how the train can even pass through such small tunnels and climb 300-metre heights.
It achieves this by making a huge figure-of-eight on its route, passing through the same point twice.
Since Šargan Eight is very popular in the season, it is best to book the ride in advance. Come aboard and find out at which station no ticket has ever been sold.
